Motherwort Tension-Ease Tincture

Motherwort is a bitter, minty-scented herb traditionally used by herbalists to ease emotional tension that shows up alongside a racing heartbeat or restlessness. As a tincture, it’s carried easily and taken in small doses whenever tension spikes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup dried motherwort herb (leaf and flower)
  • 1 cup high-proof vodka (80 proof or higher)
  • 1 pint mason jar with lid
  • Small dark glass dropper bottle, for storage

Preparation

  1. Place the dried motherwort in the mason jar.
  2. Pour the vodka over the herb until fully submerged, leaving about an inch of headspace.
  3. Seal and shake gently to combine.
  4. Store in a cool, dark cupboard for 4 weeks, shaking every couple of days.
  5. Strain through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth, pressing out the liquid, and transfer to a dark glass dropper bottle.

Dosage & Usage 15–30 drops in a small amount of water, taken as needed, up to three times daily.
